IT Asset Disposition (ITAD)

The complete process for retiring end-of-life IT, from secure data erasure & destruction through to responsible refurbishment, and value recovery.

DGD Technology is a trusted ITAD specialist, helping organisations across every sector, nationwide, retire IT securely, recover value, and meet their environmental obligations.

IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) is the certified process of retiring end-of-life IT equipment through secure data destruction, responsible recycling, and where appropriate, refurbishment and resale.

Unlike general disposal, ITAD provides documented evidence that every device has been handled correctly, protecting your organisation from data breaches, regulatory penalties, and environmental liability at every stage.

How IT Asset Disposition Works

1. Get in touch

Tell us what you have: device types, volumes, and any compliance requirements.

2. Asset Assessment

We confirm device types, volumes, and compliance requirements, then agree the right disposition plan with you.

3. Secure collection

Garda-vetted operatives collect your assets in GPS-tracked vehicles. Every device is logged individually from the moment we arrive.

4. Asset Processing

Every data-bearing device is securely shredded, erased, or refurbished, depending on the disposition plan that is most suited to your IT Assets

5. Repurposing & value recovery

Refurbished devices are resold to offset your costs. Everything else goes through WEEE-authorised recycling, nothing to landfill.

6. Documentation

You receive a Certificate of Erasure/Destruction, full asset inventory, and documentation, everything needed for a compliance audit.

Protect Your Business From

Data breach exposure

Deleted files and factory resets do not permanently erase data. Devices leaving your premises without certified destruction remain a liability.

Regulatory penalties

GDPR requires data to be irreversibly destroyed when no longer needed. Non-compliant disposal is a reportable breach with fines of up to 4% of global turnover.

Environmental liability

IT equipment contains hazardous materials subject to WEEE Directive controls. Improper disposal carries legal and reputational consequences.

Secure Destruction. Smart Recovery. Full Compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

General recycling handles materials but does not guarantee data destruction, chain of custody, or compliance documentation. ITAD is a specialised, certified process — every device is accounted for, data is provably destroyed, and you receive documentation suitable for a regulatory audit.

GDPR requires organisations to ensure personal data is securely destroyed when no longer needed. Retiring IT equipment without certified data destruction is a potential GDPR violation. A compliant ITAD service — with documented destruction and chain of custody — satisfies this obligation.

Yes. DGD Technology regularly handles bulk ITAD for organisations upgrading fleets, moving premises, or decommissioning server infrastructure. We scale our collection and processing capacity to match project size with no drop in documentation standards.

Yes. For organisations with high-security requirements — such as legal, financial, government, or healthcare clients — we can perform certified hard drive shredding at your premises with a witness and Certificate of Destruction issued on the spot.

Where devices are suitable for resale or repurposing, DGD Technology can apply Blancco-certified data erasure and assess the equipment for value recovery. In many cases, this reduces your net ITAD cost — or eliminates it entirely for larger asset volumes.

DGD Technology holds Blancco-certified data erasure accreditation, is a Green Awards 2024 recipient, and operates with Garda-vetted personnel on all collections and processing. Our processes are GDPR-compliant and WEEE-authorised, and we issue Certificates of Destruction as standard on every job.

Every DGD Technology ITAD job is completed with a full documentation package. This includes a Certificate of Destruction for each data-bearing device processed, an asset manifest listing every item collected by make, model, and serial number, and a chain of custody record covering the full lifecycle from collection to final disposition. This documentation is suitable for GDPR audit, legal review, or internal compliance reporting.

DGD Technology processes the full range of corporate IT assets, including laptops, desktops, servers, monitors, mobile devices, tablets, networking equipment, printers, and data storage media including hard drives, SSDs, and magnetic tape. We also handle data centre infrastructure such as racks and UPS units. If you are unsure whether a specific item is in scope, contact our team before scheduling a collection.

Once you contact DGD Technology, we agree a collection date and provide a unique job reference. Our Garda-vetted operatives arrive at your site and collect assets in whatever condition they are in — loose, boxed, racked, or palletised. A collection manifest is completed on the day. Assets are then transported securely to our facility, where each item is individually logged, data destruction is carried out, and processing documentation is generated. Final reports are issued on completion.

DGD Technology provides ITAD services to organisations across Ireland. Collections are arranged directly with our team and we accommodate clients regardless of location, from single-site businesses to organisations with multiple premises.

No minimum volume applies. DGD Technology works with organisations of all sizes, from small businesses retiring a handful of devices to large enterprises refreshing entire IT fleets. Every job, regardless of size, receives the same certified process and documentation.

Yes. DGD Technology can coordinate collections across multiple premises as part of a single managed project, with a unified asset manifest and consolidated documentation package issued on completion. This is particularly useful for organisations with regional offices or distributed IT infrastructure.
